Intuition & Psychic Gifts
Explore the different ways we sense and know.
Intuition is the experience of knowing, sensing, or recognizing something without consciously working through every step that led you there.
Psychic or extrasensory abilities describe experiences in which someone believes they are receiving information beyond their ordinary senses or usual reasoning processes.
Different people may experience this through feelings, images, thoughts, sounds, dreams, bodily sensations, sudden knowing, or other forms of perception.
This Deep Dive explores both developing greater awareness of how you receive information and learning how to interpret what you're receiving.
-
“Not every strong feeling is intuition—and learning the difference is part of developing discernment.”
Intuition is commonly described as a sense of knowing or understanding something without consciously reasoning your way to the conclusion. But when emotions are involved, intuition can sometimes be difficult to distinguish from fear or from what you strongly hope will happen.
Fear may pull your attention toward possible threats, worst-case scenarios, or what could go wrong. Wishful thinking can pull your interpretation toward the outcome you most want to be true. Both can feel convincing because both can carry strong emotion.
Intuitive impressions are also not guaranteed to be correct. An impression can be influenced by expectations, previous experiences, emotional states, assumptions, and information you've already absorbed without consciously realizing it.
Instead of treating every feeling as a message, give yourself room to observe it. Ask: What am I sensing? What am I afraid of? What am I hoping for? What evidence do I have?
Developing intuition isn't only about learning to listen. It's also about learning to discern what you're actually listening to.
-
“Not everyone who describes intuitive experiences experiences them in the same way.”
Within psychic and spiritual traditions, the clairs are terms used to describe different ways people believe they receive intuitive or extrasensory information. “Clair” comes from a word meaning clear, with each term describing a different form of perceived information.
Some of the commonly discussed clairs include clairvoyance (clear seeing), clairaudience (clear hearing), clairsentience (clear feeling), and claircognizance (clear knowing). Other terms include clairalience for perceived intuitive smells and clairgustance for perceived intuitive tastes.
These experiences aren't necessarily dramatic. Someone describing clairvoyance, for example, may be referring to mental imagery rather than physically seeing something in front of them. Someone describing claircognizance may experience an idea or answer that seems to arrive suddenly.
A person may identify strongly with one clair, experience several, or not use the clair framework at all. These terms come from spiritual and psychic frameworks rather than established scientific categories, but they provide a vocabulary people use to describe and explore different kinds of intuitive experiences.
Chakras & Energy
Explore your relationship with energy.
Chakras are energy centers described within traditions originating in South Asia and later interpreted through a variety of modern spiritual and energetic frameworks.
Modern chakra systems commonly explore seven major centers associated with different areas of physical, emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual experience.
Energy practices may also involve becoming more aware of how you experience yourself, other people, environments, emotional states, and energetic boundaries.
This Deep Dive explores the chakra system alongside practical ways people work with energetic awareness, grounding, balance, cleansing, and protection.
-
“Each chakra represents a different area of the human experience within the chakra framework.”
Within many modern spiritual practices, the chakra system is understood as a network of energy centers associated with different physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual themes.
The commonly taught seven-chakra system moves from the base of the spine toward the crown of the head:
Root — safety, stability, grounding, and belonging
Sacral — emotions, pleasure, creativity, and desire
Solar Plexus — confidence, personal power, and self-direction
Heart — love, compassion, connection, and openness
Throat — communication, truth, and self-expression
Third Eye — intuition, perception, and inner vision
Crown — spirituality, meaning, and connection beyond the individual selfThe chakras aren't meant to be understood only as seven separate parts. Within this framework, they can also be explored as an interconnected system in which different areas of your life may influence one another.
Learning the seven chakras gives you a framework for asking: Where do I feel grounded? Where am I struggling? What part of myself may need greater awareness, expression, or balance?
-
“Chakra imbalance isn't always described as having too little energy—it can also mean having too much.”
Within chakra-based spiritual frameworks, people often use the words blocked, underactive, and overactive to describe different forms of perceived imbalance.
A blocked chakra is commonly described as an area where energy or expression feels restricted. An underactive chakra may be associated with difficulty accessing or expressing the qualities connected with that chakra. An overactive chakra may describe those same qualities becoming excessive, dominant, or difficult to regulate.
For example, within this framework, imbalance around the throat chakra might be explored through difficulty expressing yourself on one end or communicating without enough space for listening on the other.
These terms are spiritual and reflective concepts rather than medical diagnoses. They can be used as prompts for exploring patterns in areas such as safety, emotions, confidence, relationships, communication, intuition, and spiritual connection.
The goal of chakra work isn't necessarily to make every chakra “perfect.” Balance is about noticing where something may need more support, less intensity, or greater awareness.
Signs, Symbols & Synchronicities
Explore the patterns that catch your attention.
Signs are experiences someone interprets as carrying personal or spiritual significance.
Symbols are images, numbers, objects, animals, words, colors, or other representations that may carry meanings within cultures, traditions, spiritual systems, or someone's personal experience.
Synchronicities are meaningful coincidences—events that appear connected through significance even when the relationship between them isn't necessarily explained through ordinary cause and effect.
This Deep Dive explores how people recognize patterns, assign meaning, develop personal symbolic language, and distinguish meaningful experiences from the urge to interpret everything as a sign.
-
“Repeating numbers can become meaningful symbols—but the number is only one part of the experience.”
Angel numbers are repeating or noticeable number patterns that people interpret as carrying spiritual meaning or guidance. Common examples include numbers such as 111, 222, 333, 444, 1111, or sequences that repeatedly catch someone's attention.
Within spiritual frameworks, different numbers are often associated with particular themes. Someone may interpret a repeating number as reassurance, a reminder, confirmation, encouragement, or an invitation to pay closer attention to what is happening in their life.
Angel numbers aren't the same as traditional numerology. Numerology uses systems for calculating and interpreting numbers connected to things such as birth dates and names. Angel numbers generally focus on numbers a person repeatedly notices or experiences in everyday life.
Rather than relying only on a universal list of meanings, consider the context surrounding the number. What were you thinking about? What was happening? How did you feel? Has the number developed a personal meaning through repeated experiences?
The number may catch your attention—but exploring why it feels meaningful to you is part of interpreting the experience.
-
“Noticing a pattern and deciding what the pattern means are two different steps.”
A repeating number, symbol, song, animal, dream, phrase, or coincidence may feel significant. But noticing something meaningful doesn't automatically tell you what it means—or whether it was a spiritual sign at all.
Discernment means leaving space between the experience and your interpretation of it.
Before assigning meaning, consider the context. What actually happened? What were you thinking or feeling beforehand? Have you been actively looking for this sign? Is there another reasonable explanation? Does the meaning come from your own experience, or from something someone else told you it must mean?
Attention matters too. Once something becomes important to you, you're often more likely to notice it. Recognizing that possibility doesn't automatically make the experience meaningless—it simply gives you another factor to consider.
You don't have to immediately decide that something was definitely a sign or definitely a coincidence. Discernment allows you to remain curious, explore possible meaning, notice patterns over time, and stay grounded while doing so.
Dreams & Altered Awareness
Explore what happens when ordinary waking awareness changes.
Dreams are experiences involving imagery, thoughts, emotions, sensations, memories, stories, or perceptions that occur during sleep.
Altered awareness refers more broadly to experiences in which someone's ordinary state of consciousness or perception changes.
These experiences may occur through sleep, meditation, lucid dreaming, hypnagogic or hypnopompic states, deep relaxation, visions, trance-like experiences, or other shifts in awareness.
Different psychological, cultural, spiritual, and personal frameworks may interpret these experiences differently.
This Deep Dive creates room to explore what you experience, the patterns within those experiences, and what meaning they may hold for you.
-
“A symbol can have a common meaning without having the same meaning for everyone.”
Dream interpretation often involves symbols—people, animals, places, objects, colors, numbers, or situations that seem to represent something beyond what literally appeared in the dream.
Some symbols have collective or commonly associated meanings. Water, for example, is often connected with emotions, the unconscious, cleansing, or change in different interpretive traditions. But those associations don't automatically tell you what water means in your dream.
Personal meaning comes from your own experiences, memories, emotions, beliefs, and associations. Someone who loves the ocean may experience it very differently from someone who fears deep water.
This is why dream interpretation can go deeper than searching “What does this symbol mean?” Consider what the symbol means to you, how you felt during the dream, what was happening around it, and what is occurring in your waking life.
A dream dictionary can offer possibilities. Your personal context helps you explore which possibilities actually fit the dream.
-
“Both can feel vivid and meaningful, but they describe different kinds of experiences.”
A dream is an experience that occurs during sleep and may include imagery, emotions, sensations, people, places, stories, or situations. Dreams can range from fragmented and quickly forgotten to extremely vivid and realistic.
The word vision is used in different ways. Within spiritual traditions, people may use it to describe vivid imagery, scenes, impressions, or experiences they perceive while awake, during meditation, prayer, altered states of awareness, or around the transition between sleeping and waking.
The distinction isn't always perfectly clear. Experiences occurring near sleep can include vivid imagery during hypnagogic states while falling asleep or hypnopompic states while waking, which can feel different from ordinary dreams.
Calling an experience a vision also doesn't automatically establish where it came from or what it means. Someone may interpret a vivid experience spiritually, psychologically, symbolically, or through more than one lens.
Before interpreting the message, begin with the experience itself: Was I asleep, awake, meditating, or between sleep and waking? What did I experience? How clear was it? What meaning did I give it afterward?
Understanding the state in which something occurred can be just as important as interpreting what you experienced.
When the Deep Dives Connect
These experiences don't always occur separately.
Someone may dream about a symbol, wake up with an intuitive feeling, repeatedly encounter that same symbol afterward, and interpret the sequence as synchronicity.
Another person may experience stronger intuition while working with meditation or energy practices.
Rather than forcing every experience into one category, this section can help seekers explore how different parts of their spiritual awareness may overlap.
It also gives us a natural place to link between resources without duplicating them.
